Burnley stuns Manchester United at Old Trafford
Burnley stuns Manchester United at Old Trafford. Manchester United who was without their top scorer Marcus Rashford couldn’t find a way to break down the Burnley ’s defence in their 2-0 lost.
Chris Wood opened the scoring for the visitors when he got the better of Harry Maguire and scored from six yards out just before the break.
Jay Rodriguez then added to the Clarets lead with a beautiful strike from the left corner of the box.
Manchester United never looked like scoring with the way Burnley sat deep and composed in their half. It was the first time in three season Burnley were able to keep their 2-0 advantage against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
It could be said that the result was due to Rashford’s absence, but a club like Manchester United shouldn’t be relying on one player to get the goals, and with the transfer window currently open, Ole will have to strengthen his squad or get the axe.
The Red devils are currently on fifth position with six points behind fourth placed Chelsea, and the fans showed their anguish by booing the team at the end of each half, while most fans left the stadium with some minutes left in the match.
In other results, Tottenham won 2-1 to Norwich with Son Heung Min scoring the winner to cancel out Teamu Pukki’s penalty while Leicester ran rampage with a 4-1 victory over West Ham.
