Arsenal have been knocked out of the Europa League as they lost to Olympiakos in extra time. Arsenal had won the first leg 1-0 in Greece last week and it looked favourable for the English side only for them to also lose 1-0 in England.

With the 1-1 aggregate scoreline they went into extra time where Aubameyang grabbed a goal in the 113th minute to put Arsenal ahead on aggregate score.

Unlucky for Arsenal, the visitors equalized at the last minute of extra time to make it 2-2 on aggregate and knocking Arsenal out with away goals. It was a bad night for the Gunners and everyone was stunned with the scoreline.

Aubameyang had the chance to send Arsenal through in the last kick of the game but the Gabon international couldn’t convert the chance, even the opposition defenders couldn’t believe it.

This result comes as a huge blow to the English side as it may have been their easiest path to qualify for the Uefa Champions League.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had just spoke of the Europa League being the easiest route out of three to the Uefa Champions League before the start of the game and after the end of the game his disappointment was felt: “It hurts a lot. We had a lot of intentions in this competition”

Arsenal will have to finish in the top 4 in the Premier League to secure a Champions League spot next season and with their current position in the league that comes as a really difficult task.

Meanwhile, Odion Ighalo grabbed his first goal for Manchester United in his first start for the club. The striker scored the second goal of the game after he was able to meet Juan Mata’s cutback at the near post.

Man united came out as 5-0 winners against Club Brugge and have progressed to the Europa League round of 16.
