Liverpool who were unbeaten in the English Premier League since the start of the 2019/2020 season saw their hopes of completing the season unbeaten by relegation threatened side Watford.

A win at Vicerage road would have seen Liverpool set a new record in the English top flight for a team with the longest winning streak after they had won 18 in a row.

The reds were not in the game from the starting point as they were unable to create clear cut chances or even get shots on target in the first half.

The first half ended goalless as Allison made a fine save to deny Troy Deeney from scoring in the first half.

However, Watford were on the front foot from the start of the second half as Ismaila Sarr grabbed the opening goal from a superb cross from Doucoure.

Watford went on to double their lead with another goal from Sarr, and Troy Deeney sealed the victory for the home side making it 3-0.
Liverpool are still comfortable on the top of the Premier League as they are 22 points clear of second placed Man City. Liverpool’s next match will be against Chelsea in the FA cup on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso scored twice to rescue Chelsea a point against Bournemouth earlier on Saturday afternoon.

The blues were ahead in the first half with a goal from the left-back, then Bournemouth scored twice in 10 mins to go ahead in the second half before Marcos Alonso brought the game level at 2-2.
