Hollywood actress and Icon, Cecily Tyson dies at 96
African- American hollywood actress and model, Cecily Tyson passed away on Thursday afternoon.
Her manager, Larry Thompson announced her painful demise on Thursday, he said,
“With heavy heart, the family of Miss Cecily Tyson announces her peaceful transition this afternoon. At this time, please allow the family their privacy.”
Cecily was oscar-nominated for 1972’s “Sounded”, 45years later, she was honoured with an honorary golden statuette for her body of work.
Though she acted in various roles, she refused to play roles of drug addict, prostitute, maids, and other roles she felt were demeaning to the black woman.
On Wednesday just before her death on Thursday, Tyson thanked poet Gorman for her healing words at the United States Presidential Inauguration. Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Gorman and others have reacted to the death of this iconic actress.
