“You Went Against The Grain”- Actress Zainab Balogun Slams Ruth Kadiri For Criticising Eko Award Organisers

Nollywood actress, Zainab Balogun has subtly reacted to Ruth Kadiri’s rant yesterday, about not being recognized by the Eko Film Awards.

Recall that the actress complained bitterly on Instagram that despite her hardwork in the film industry in Nigeria, she was Overlooked by MO Abudu and the other award organisers .

Her words:

” I will not be pressured. I will keep working hard. @lagosstategovt @moabudu @ijayonah @nifsummit thanks for overlooking me and congrats to everyone who got recognized. 🎤 the film industry is controlled by women, so if you’re going to do it, do it right or don’t do it at all”

In an appreciation post, actress Zainab thanked the organisers of the award for recognizing while schooling Ruth Kadiri on why she was Overlooked.

She wrote:

” Yesterday was emotional. I don’t know how we all didn’t burst into tears 😆 I think it’s fair to say we need a monthly summit. God knows I LOVE acting. Absolutely love it with every bone in my body yet being a Nigerian female creative can be SO tiring. I have stories for days!!!! It’s so easy to feel overlooked when you go against the grain. Yesterday I was honored along with a room full of talented women who are simply doing their best and moving the needle effortlessly. Thank you for seeing us! @lagosstategovt @moabudu and @ijayonah ❤️ As it was perfectly said, our work has just started ❤️ Congratulations to all the winners”

Going against the grain means doing something normal, different from what is expected.
