Co-Founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates Divorces Wife, Melinda After 27years Of Marriage

The Co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates has divorced his wife afyer 27 years of marriage. The former CEO revealed this in a tweet on Monday that he and his wife, Melinda Gates, will be splitting up after 27 years.

He tweeted,

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” Bill and Melinda Gates wrote in a statement that Bill Gates tweeted.

“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

The decision reflects a personal change at the top of American business. However, they will both keep working together on philanthropic work, which has addressed education, gender equality and health care.

The announcement comes two years after Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, and his wife, MacKenzie got divorced. Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos are among the world’s richest people, and Amazon and Microsoft compete in the cloud computing business. Earlier this year, Amazon announced that Bezos would be stepping down from his post as CEO and that cloud chief Andy Jassy would replace him.
