Iretiola Olusola Ayinke popularly  known as Ireti Doyle is a Nigerian actress, TV presenter, writer and public speaker who was born on the 3rd of May, 1967 in Ondo State.

Though born in Nigeria, she spent her childhood with her parents who resided in Boston, United States. After completing her basic education in the U.S, Ireti came back to Nigeria where she attended Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti. Moving over to the higher institution, the actress obtained diploma in Mass Communication and a degree in Theatre Arts in the University of Jos.

Career

Ireti went into the entertainment industry in the 90s in her level 300 during one of the strikes her school embarked on. The actress decided to give into her passion in the entertainment industry as she had already been motivated by watching Joke Silva’s performance in a TV series she watched during her secondary school therefore, she moved to Lagos where she went for an audition.

In 1998, she acted ‘All About Ere’. In 2000, Ireti decided to host a TV show which she named ‘Oge with Iretiola’, it is a show where she talks about fashion and lifestyle bringing famous celebrities like Adesua Etomi Wellington and others as guests.

The show successfully ran for 10years but was revived again in 2019 and premiered on September 1st, 2019, it airs every Sunday in African Magic Showcase Channel. She also hosted shows like ‘Morning Ride’ which aired on Silver bird Television and ‘Nimasa This Week’ which aired on Channels TV.

The presenter is also a talented writer as she wrote columns for City People, Saturday Vanguard and This Day Newspaper.

Ireti Doyle Awards

In 1998, she was nominated Best Actress due to her role in ‘All About Ere’ during the Reel Awards.

In 2007, in the African Movie Academy Awards she was nominated Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

In the 2009 African Magic Academy Awards, she was nominated Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

In 2013, the actress won the Best Actress in a Lead Role during the GIAMA Awards.

In 2014, she won the Best Actress in a Lead Role in the Nollywood Movie Awards.

In 2015, she was nominated Best Supporting Actress in the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

And in 2016, Ireti was nominated Best Actress in a Leading Role in the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

The TV show host won the Actress of the Year in Late Ambassador Segun Olusola Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards.

She was also given a special recognition during the Eko Star Films and TV Awards in 2021.

Ireti Doyle Husband

The actress was married to a veteran producer, director, broadcaster and actor in the person of Patrick Doyle.

She met him the day she went for an audition in Lagos and according to her, he was among those who judged her performance as he was already a popular broadcaster, an adroit presenter and actor by then.

Speaking about it, she said,

“I went for an audition in school; it was in my third year in the university. Patrick Doyle was the producer and director of the play at that time. This was a period of time when schools were shut excessively. Rather than waste my time and wait for school to re-open, I decided to do something meaningful, so I came to Lagos. I did an audition and got a role. I told Patrick that I had interest in writing. I also told him that I could write scripts, so he employed me on ad-hoc basis. I worked with him for about two or three years; he was my boss, then his wife passed on and the rest is history”.

They got married on December, 2004 after his first wife died of Sickle Cell Anaemia. The marriage is blessed with 6 children though a child died of sickle cell.

You should know that Ireti gave birth to her first child Abimbola Ozofor at the age of 17. Ireti is a proud grandmother.

Ireti Doyle Achievements

The mother of six is not only a TV show host, she also runs a media consulting and production company called ‘Sisi Ologe Entertainment’.

Not just that, she is also the owner of Ologe Farms, an indigenous Organic Snail farm in Nigeria which she began in 2017.

According to the 54year old actress, her aim is to become a leading supplier of 100% organic snails in Nigeria and abroad.

Controversies

In 2017, there were rumours of the actress separating from her husband. This came after she moved out of their matrimonial home.

In 2019 after Patrick apologized. Taking to his social media account ,he wrote,

“I have been more undeserving of the affection of this uncommon woman.
Have I taken her love for granted, you bet I have. Why? Because like most men, I am prone to being a jerk.
I cannot count how many times she has had to pick up the slack when I failed in my duties as a husband and father.”
”She has a great sense of responsibility, the rock of our family.
Without a doubt, she’s the most generous woman I know, a dependable friend, a loyal ally and the most loving and sensual woman ever”.

In 2020 during his birthday there were no birthday wishes from her and this got people speculating they’ve divorced.

In October, 2021, the public speaker distanced herself from her daughter’s business. This came after her daughter, Abimbola also known as Kachi was accused of scamming her customers with a proposed empowerment scheme which has to do with hair importation.

Taking to her Instagram account, she wrote:

“I reiterate and write to inform all parties involved that I was in no way connected to Kachi Beauty Products. I do not, and I have never owned a share, been a director, been on the payroll, or received any financial benefits from said business.”
“I have zero affiliations with or interest of any nature in Kachi Beauty Products and its board/proprietors. Mrs Abimbola Ngozi Onyeulo (Nee Ozofor) a.k.a Kachi, the 34-year-old founder of said business is one of my biological offspring, and that is the extent of the relationship”.
