“It’s One Thing To Leave A Relationship. It’s Another To Try And Ruin To Your EX’s Life” – Bbnaija’s Ike Onyema Reacts As Johnny Depp Wins Defamation Case Against His Ex-Wife
BBnaija star, Ike Onyema has reacted after American actor, Johnny Depp, 58, won his defamation case against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, 36.
It could be recalled that the high-profile trial involving Johnny and Amber began April 12 in Fairfax, Va. The trial revolves around a defamation lawsuit Depp filed against Heard in 2019 about an op-ed she wrote about domestic abuse in 2018.
Heard had accused indirectly Depp of physically and sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions before and during their brief marriage, often in situations where she said he drank so much he later blacked out.
Reacting to this, Depp said the article caused damage to his career.
Though Depp acknowledged there were arguments between them, he testified, “Never did I, myself, reach the point of striking Ms. Heard in any way, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.”
Depp said Heard destroyed his life after she wrote that article.
According to him, he was dropped from his role in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise just days after the article was published.
During the trial, Heard confirmed that her husband constantly abused her. She painted him as jealous and controlling.
During her testimony, the defence entered several photos showing an injured Heard into evidence, along with expletive-laden emails and text messages between the couple.
Finally, Heard said the op-ed she wrote isn’t about Depp; it’s about what happened to her after she obtained a temporary restraining order against the actor.
Well, over the course of the six-week trial, Depp’s lawyers went to lengths to prove that Depp, not Heard, was the victim of domestic abuse in their relationship.
This led to the actor winning his case against the actress. The jury awarded him $15million, $10million in compensatory damages and $5million in punitive damages.
The panel of seven in Fairfax decided to award the Pirates of the Caribbean star a total $15 million in damages after deliberating for about 13 hours. The judge, however, reduced the $5million punitive damages he could receive to $350,000 because Virginia law caps punitive damages in these cases at $350k.
Reacting to this, Ike Onyema revealed that Johnny Depp winning the case was a win for all men who suffer the abuse of any form at the hands of manipulative, abusive and deeply narcissistic women.
He wrote;
“This win for Johnny Depp is a win for all men who suffer abuse of any form at the hands of manipulative, abusive and deeply narcissistic women. And it will give other men who suffer in silence; the courage to speak out on abuse and most importantly the courage to walk away.
It’s one thing to leave a relationship. It’s another to try and ruin to your EX’s life. This will teach every hateful EX, that the hate will only ruin it’s vessel. A Big
Win for Jonny Depp.”
