Singer & songwriter, Ricky Martin could face up to 50 years in prison following domestic violence allegations reportedly filed by his 21-year-old nephew.

Ricky has completely denied the accusations of stalking and abusing the alleged victim which later a judge in Puerto Rico issued a “domestic violence-related” restraining order against the Latin pop icon.

After the restraining order news broke, Ricky Martin took to social media to proclaim his innocence.

“The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterize me. Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart,” Martin wrote on Twitter at the time.

The alleged victim’s name was not previously disclosed. However, Martin’s brother, Eric Martin, claimed that the victim is 21-year-old Dennis Yadiel Sanchez the singer’s nephew.

Martin’s attorney Marty Singer said, “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”

In the allegations made by Martin’s nephew, he alleged that after he ended the seven-month relationship with Ricky Martin, his uncle did not take the news well and began stalking him outside his home and constantly reaching out via phone calls and text messages. Additionally, Sanchez claimed he suffered from both physical and psychological abuse during the relationship.

Under Puerto Rican law, if Ricky Martin is proven guilty, he could be sentenced to up to 50 years in prison. The case is set to begin on July 21st.
