International President’s Scholarship at Illinois Wesleyan University in USA

Illinois Wesleyan University is currently accepting applications for the International President’s Scholarship which is provided to individuals who are seeking to pursue a degree program at Illinois Wesleyan University – USA.

Illinois Wesleyan is able to award merit scholarships and need-based financial aid for international students in each first-year entering class. Students who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents are considered international students.

Illinois Wesleyan University will provide full-tuition per year and renewable for up to four years of study.

Illinois Wesleyan’s undergraduate-only learning environment provides extensive personal attention, with all courses taught by professors and an average class size of 16 students. Experiential learning is a hallmark of Illinois Wesleyan, with two-thirds of our students conducting research and 71 percent completing at least one internship.

Located in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, combined population about 130,000, the university is midway between Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri.

The university was founded in 1850 as a private four-year college in Bloomington, Illinois.

Illinois Wesleyan’s College of Liberal Arts was formally organized in 1906, and the College of Fine Arts – combining schools of art, music, and theatre arts – was established in 1948.

Illinois Wesleyan offered nursing study in conjunction with the Brokaw School of Nursing beginning in 1923, and in 1959 established the IWU School of Nursing with a four-year baccalaureate program.

IWU operated a School of Law from 1873-1928.

The Board of Trustees took formal action to invite black students to enroll at Illinois Wesleyan in 1867 and women in 1870. The first female graduate, Hannah I. Shur, received her diploma in 1872. Gus A. Hill was the first African-American graduate, earning a law degree in 1880.

The University’s first international students, Y. Osawa and K. Tanaka, arrived from Japan in 1889.

Eligibility criteria for the International President’s Scholarship at Illinois Wesleyan University;

  1. Applicants must have high school certificates with an excellent academic record.
  2. Applicants whose first or native language is not English are still required to submit either the TOEFL or IELTS.
  3. Applicants must meet all the basic entry requirement of the university.
