American rapper, Wiz Khalifa has praised President Joe Biden for his steps to end the criminalization of marijuana possession and use.

The 35-year-old rapper talked to TMZ Hip Hop about the 79-year-old president’s marijuana reform measures which he announced earlier in the week.

It’s awesome to see things are moving in the right direction,” Wiz Khalifa said. “Cannabis laws have negatively impacted people for way too long.

Earlier this week, Joe Biden released a video where he announced three major changes to federal marijuana criminalization.

First, the president announced a federal pardon for all people convicted of simple marijuana possession.

He then called on state governors to also pardon people with state marijuana possession convictions.

Finally, Biden announced that he would ask the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, and the Attorney General, Merrick Garland, to initiate a process reclassifying marijuana from a Schedule I substance.

Schedule I substances are “drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse,” according to the Drug Enforcement Agency. Heroin, ecstasy and LSD are all examples of Schedule I substances.

Khalifa is a well-known user of marijuana and he has his own brand of weed products.

His brand of marijuana is called Khalifa Kush though he also has a strain under the brand Khalifa Mints.

Wiz Khalifa has long supported the legalization of marijuana, and even gave Esquire 12 tips on the drug back in 2015.

“It just feels better being in this type of environment and knowing the smell doesn’t scare people and everybody’s with it,” Khalifa said at the time about Colorado, one of the first states to legalize marijuana. “If you pass somebody a joint they’re gonna hit it!”
