Nollywood Filmmaker, Dimeji Ajibola Is Dead (DETAILS)
The Nigerian film industry mourns the loss of renowned director Dimeji Ajibola, who passed away in the early hours of November 3 after battling an undisclosed illness. Ajibola, celebrated for his visionary work, was the creative mind behind the popular series Shanty Town.
Known as a trailblazer in the entertainment industry, Ajibola brought together traditional and digital art forms in groundbreaking ways. His extensive body of work spanned film, animation, visual effects (VFX), virtual worlds, and interactive media, marking him as a true innovator.
Ajibola’s impressive educational background includes studies in filmmaking and cinematography at the New York Film Academy in Universal Studios, advanced character animation at Animation Mentor in San Francisco, and visual effects at VFXLearning.
He was also the creator of the 2012 urban musical film Hoodrush, which won multiple accolades, including Best Movie at the Green Me Film Festival in Germany, as well as Best Actor and Best Soundtrack at the Nollywood Movies Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards.
