American TV host, Jay Leno has reportedly been “seriously burned” following a car fire.

The 72-year-old is said to have suffered facial injuries after one of the cars at his LA garage “erupted into flames without warning“.

According to TMZ, the flames burned the left side of his face, but thankfully did not penetrate his eye or his ear.

The star is currently staying at the burn ward at Grossman Burn Centre and receiving treatment. It’s not known how severe his condition is.

The news comes after Leno cancelled an upcoming appearance due to a “very serious medical emergency.”

He was set to appear at The Financial Brand conference in Las Vegas on Sunday, but organisers announced shortly before the event that he wouldn’t be able to make it.

“His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling,” their statement said.

“All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.”

The former Tonight Show host is thought to have scrapped any engagements this week as a precaution.

Leno is known for his love of cars, as he owns more than 180 vehicles, including exotic cars, hypercars and museum-grade artifacts.

According to US News & World Report, he’s collected both expensive and more affordable cars over the years.

The late night host has a whole host of Bentley and Lamborghini models at his disposal but, for a long time, his daily go-to was his Chevy Volt.

“It’s the car I use to run errands, and when it’s raining, bad weather, when I have to go to the airport. It’s a great everyday car,” he told the press at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

It’s not known which of the vehicles in his collection may have caused the blaze at his garage.
