In other news, Alex Usifo has debunked the myth that alcohol makes you a strong man, as the actor popular for interpreting roles of a “strong man” has revealed that he has never drank alcohol in his life! – read his interview on gistmania below:

Are you a good cook?

I used to be a good cook but not anymore because I have a wife who is quite good and my children are also good.

How often do you shop for food?

I hardly do that, except when I go with my wife to get provisions, then I buy some perishables.

Are you conscious of the nutritional value of the things you eat?
Well, I am concerned. Usually, I try to watch my weight; I don’t see the reason I should be too big or obese. I like fruits. My wife prepares juice for me from fruits such as watermelon juice and carrot. Sometimes, it may be orange or grape and it would be well refrigerated. I like anything made from wheat. I don’t eat eba at all. Between eba and semo, I would choose semo. I also cherish vegetable soup.

How often do you take fruits and vegetables?

The nature of my job does not allow me to be very choosy because when one is on set, most times one doesn’t get to eat what one should be eating but they do their best to give me what I should eat. I only eat what I should eat when I am at home because my wife knows what I want.

Do you have any food allergy?

Yes. If I eat beans and a kind of carbohydrate that doesn’t go well with it, I would react.

Is there any food you dislike eating?
I don’t like anything that has to do with dog meat. Also, I don’t like eba. Amala is okay for me; it is light and it goes down well.

What are your favourite fruits?

I wouldn’t say favourite because it depends on how it goes well with my system. Sometimes, the things one eats may not be because one likes them but because they are good for one’s body system. It is what my system wants I take.

What is the most unusual food you’ve ever eaten?

Wherever I go, I look for Nigerian delicacies. I am okay with African foods. (And thankfully), they are everywhere.

Do you like experimenting with foods?

I have had to combine soups such as ewedu and gbegiri. Also, I combine potato chips with plantain chips.

Do you observe eating etiquette whenever you eat out?

I don’t do that. If I am eating either semovita or amala, I don’t use cutlery and if I have to use cutlery, I use them well. I hardly use spoons. I am not a conventional person. Most times, I use fork alone; I don’t use knife with it.

What is your favourite dessert?

I am not cut out for all those things. For my age, I don’t need ice cream and cakes.

Do you think that food defines a culture?

When you talk about culture, I am iconoclastic. In other words, I don’t follow conventional things. I am my own kind of person and I don’t follow culture.

What is your favourite food?

I really do not have a favourite meal; I eat whatever is well prepared. My likeness of a food depends on how well prepared it is.

What is your favourite drink?

I am a teetotaler. I have never taken alcohol.
