Senator Orji Uzor Kalu sentenced to 12 years imprisonment

A federal high court in Lagos state, Nigeria has sentenced former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to 12 years imprisonment.

 

The former governor of Abia state and two others were found guilty of N7.65bn fraud.

 

The co-defendantants of the senator are Slok Nigeria Limited and former director of Finance at Abia state governments house during Kalu’s tenure as governor, Uche Udeogu.

 

Orji Uzor Kalu has been given a 12 year imprisonment for money laundering and other sentences on 27 counts.

His two other accomplices were also convicted and sentenced by Justice Mohammed Idris to 3 years and 10 years imprisonment.

 

The judge ordered that Orji Uzor Kalu’s company, Slok , be wounded and all it’s assets should be forfeited to the federal government.
