Liverpool cement first position with victory over Manchester United
Liverpool put two goals past Manchester United to extend their lead on the table. Virgil Van Dijk opened the scoring for the host with a perfect header from Trent Alexander Arnold’s corner kick.
Liverpool were all over United in first half and Firmino saw a goal disallowed by the VAR, after Van Dijk looked to have fouled De Gea.

Manchester United were without their top scorer Marcus Rashford due to a back injury sustained in the Fa Cup tie against Wolves.
Ole Solksjaer decided to use Pereira in place of Rashford. United had a good chance in the start of the second with Anthony Martial blasting the ball over the post from a decent position.
The Red Devils did put in much pressure in the closing stages of the game but were unlucky when Allison fed Salah a through pass which the Egyptian ran straight to the post and slotting it through De Gea’s leg.
Liverpool have now won 21 in 22 Premier League games and are 16 points clear at the top of.the table with a game in hand. Their only draw came in the beginning of the season against Man United at Old Trafford.
Earlier result in the Premier League saw Burnley defeat Leicester City. Leicester won the first half of the game thank to Barnes goal but Sean Dyche’s men grabbed the equaliser with a goal from Chris wood in the second half. Jamie Vardy then had the chance to restore their lead with a penalty but Nick Pope kept it out with a wonderful save.
Soon after Ashley Westwood capitalised on a poor clearance by Johnny Evans and grabbed the home side a win over Leicester City.
