Firmino scores late to secure three points for Liverpool
Wolves were really unlucky not to get a point after holding the current Premier League leaders to a 1-1 scoreline until the 86th minute. Jordan Henderson opened the scoring for Liverpool after 8mins with a header from Trent Alexander Arnold’s corner.
The host draw level six minutes into the second with Raul Jimenez scoring from Adama Traore’s cross. With the African best player Sadio Mane being pulled out in the first half due to muscle injury it gave room for Traore and Wolves to press for the equalizer.
Liverpool as usual still found a way to win with Roberto Firmino strike at the 86th min. Liverpool are currently clear in first position with a 16points lead and a game in hand.
They have won 22 of 23 games this season but this was one in a few games where they were actually scared they could lose with Wolves showing real intent to get the winning goal. Liverpool now hold the record of most points reached after 23 games by a team in the English top flight league, with getting 67 points out of a possible 69.
Jurgen Klopp spoke to BBC after the match “We changed the system two or three times, we calmed it down. We had incredible chances in the first half and then at the end it was a magic moment from Bobby.

“The boys are human. It was a little bit up and down. We had discussion on the pitch, there was stuff to improve but set-pieces can bring us back in the game, a good bit of skill can bring us back in the game. Wolves were really strong but it’s clear we could settle again.
“You just have to find a way to win and have someone who makes the perfect decision and that was Bobby again.”
LLiverpool will play their outstanding game against West Ham next Wednesday by 21:45hr.
