Lai Mohammed says NTA will compete with CNN if they can get $500m loan
Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed while appearing before the local and foreign loans commitee says NTA can compete with Cable News Network (CNN) if only his ministry can get the $500 million which they are requesting for.
This $500 million is part of the $30 billion dollar loan, president Muhammadu Buhari is requesting for.
Lai Mohammed says the fund will upgrade NTA to the point whereby the station will be sending out signals just like CNN.
He complained about the fact that NTA couldn’t move from analogue to digital because they didn’t meet the deadline that was given by the International Telecommunication Union.
Lai Mohammed says the new deadline for upgrade has been slated for June 17th, 2020.

The minister of information also spoke about the creative industry in Nigeria. Lai says it is the largest employer of labour in Nigeria and if his ministry can acquire this fund, there will be more visibility for talents in the film and music industry.
