Liverpool extends gap at the top of the premier league table

Liverpool are now 25 points clear at the top of the premier league
table, after Sadio Mane strike secured their three points in a hard fought match at Norwich.

Liverpool were held down by the Norwich side who is bottom of the league until Mane came off the bench to score the only goal of the match with 12 minutes to play.

Norwich had the best chance of the first half when Allison Becker made a good save to deny Teemu Pukki, but Liverpool came alive in the second half to make it 17 straight wins but Tim Krul was there to make a double save from Mo Salah and Naby Keita.

 

Liverpool substituted Sadio Mane then opened the scoring with 12 minutes remaining after Jordan Henderson through ball fell to the Senegalese who did brilliantly to convert the chance.

 

With the score being at 1-0 Roberto Firmino had a clear chance to double the lead but his effort went wide and it ended 1-nil in favour of Liverpool.

The reds are now 25 points above second placed Manchester City who will face Aston Villa on Wednesday, and five more wins for Liverpool will see them winning the league for the first time.

 

The win also ensured the club’s qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. They have now gone 43 games unbeaten and looks set to break Arsenal record of 49 games unbeaten.

Liverpool will be traveling to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
